The Montana back-country and wilderness is laced with remote country roads and trails that wind along high ridges, through rugged ravines and lush forests as they lead deeper and deeper into unexplored woods. These trails offer delicious anticipation, even unexpected surprises. To discover where they lead. Just past that tree, or the next, and then on around the bend and over that rise. Almost always it seems these tracks are beckoning—closer to the foothills or higher on the mountaintop. The game-trails, hiking trails or vague tire-tracks promise around each bend, yet another story to be revealed. I'm intrigued with the notion of also leading a viewer's eye into my painting of such a scene.
Tom is living in the picturesque little town of Bigfork Montana, which is nestled below the snow-covered Swan Mountains at the edge of the rushing waters of the Swan River as it feeds into the beautiful, pristine Flathead Lake.
